DIET FOR AMERICA

Watch all 8 videos in the Diet for a New America series (the U.N. Livestock video is optional), and carefully read the text in Unit 6 in our textbook on pages 31 - 32. Our topic this week is investigation of the truth, so why have I asked you to watch videos about diet in order to begin to explore this topic?

Because the chapter talks about finding the truth, this means to know really well what´s going on around us… in the chapters we saw, we learned about situations not so pleasant about some things for example food, farming, etc.
After we saw the documentary I felt guilty for being a part in that huge damaging for the environment, it also shows that a lot of times we don’t want to know the cruel or crude truth because we don’t care or because we know part of it and it isn´t nice…; truth is the base of everything, and as individuals searching for opportunities to make changes is our dutty to inform everybody about the truth because we are a fundamental part in that processes that are killing species and also that are destroying completely the environment around us.

What relationships can you find between the videos and the reading?
The relation I found is that in the videos are showing the truth about health or what we believe is health for us, the chains of destruction that we are part of where we support it directly and indirectly because we consume those products that are damaging the ecosystem.
Truth should be another of our goals in life, we should be extremely mature to reach and analyze it, and accept the fact that we have being the persons that initiate those harmful processes.

What do these relationships imply about our role as individuals in our society?
It implies us because we are the ones that cause that great damaging, we are the ones that never got involved in those kind of issues that are affecting us, and the world we live in, it is important to be conscious about we did and try to change not completely but progressively our way of living, eating, acting, and that we should learn to have a little of green mind.
