What I have Learned...

When you manage to do social action, you manage to become an individual of power, you manage to waste the vanal stuff, the material stuff, and you start to see the world with different eyes... withe the eyes of an authentic and caring person... like when I became a mom it make me changed completely...
you feel things that you never though you were able to feel, you experience a lot of crude and happy things, you land in the real world and stop going up to that nothing happen cloud... you mix feelings, you think all day about those people you met and share that day, you get concern about them... you wait anxious to see them again...

I never thought for real that I was gonna enjoy this so much, it made me think about my daughter too, about the world she is going to be living in, about social response, about love and respect, about fairness and equality, about honesty... this are the values that should encourage us to move, this values should be our fuel to work, to fight... Maybe my thoughts are unfair because I have a daughter maybe I had to move from early childhood to the path of maturity not completely but in a big way... maybe my girl made see the world we share, maybe I think twice first for her and in a second place for me... I think about what Im doing and whats waiting in this real world in the future for her...

I really enjoy my experiences, I could see the true feeling of my classmates, I could knew really cool and wise people on those saturday´s, I realize that maturity isn´t hard it takes a while but it isnt impossible, it has never been and never would.
maybe we need that push or to just open our eyes analize ourselves and then the world we are part of... we should demand for fair things but not for us but for the people that never had a chance to scream for unfair treats of society with them... maybe it is complex but if we dont act now... we will never change, we will be ok with injustices.

I hope for huge changes... till that I´m going to change for my daughter and for me maybe doing little things but at the end is my daughter who is going to live them as huge changes in the future...

Saturday 25th

Saturday 25th we went to los lagos, las riberas, el rio, castelago, we began at 12:00 till 3:30, we met an interesting guy called Xavier, he was working in a huge company but he got kicked of by the chiefs… he told us that he has 2 jobs he worked in a night club in Duran and during day he work as the security manager in Los Lagos.

Today we took sandwiches and soda as always but we also took junk food as potato chips etc… it was nice, we even met the grocery guy from entre rios Nelson who was delivering some vegetables to a house…

It has been great doing this, it makes you think a lot, and notice that doesn´t matter if we are poor or rich, black or white, sick or healthy we haver the same problems, we live in the same city but we never give them the same opportunities.

We are going to be keep doing this the weekends we can, this has change my mind, my life, and also to try to get more people involved into this...

Saturday 18th

Saturday 18th we went to the complexes like Villa Club, Isla Sol, Lago Sol, Entre lagos, we met the security guards and in one of them we even had the chance to met the gardeners and pool guy… it was nice, we had a problem that day because we did 49 sandwiches and they were 58 so we went back to my house to do the rest of the sandwiches and went back to the complexes… We knew a guy that her wife has pancreatic cancer and is helped by the volunteers of ASVOHL, he told us he work 2 turns because he needs money for the injections and medicine her wife needs…

Something good was that a lady from the complex he work in heard about the case and told him to go one day so they can see what can they do to help her.
There is in another complex a guy that made that his brother applied for a job there too so they were telling me that people aren’t nice, sometimes they want to be angry but they cant so they just deal with that.

As I put in the first entry I did it is nice to help people to enjoy spending time with them and also to exchange experiences of life… you don’t need a degree to do it just living every day with its problems and happy moments…

Labor Social

On Saturday july 11th we did labor social with my classmates, we made 60 sandwiches with cheese and gave the guards of the complexes of samborondon with a glass of soda, this was done because we notice they work for us and we never take the time to think about them, they are working for our security and also for our good and the good of our children or relatives.

This idea came when I spoke to one security guard in Bosques De Castilla and told me that it was an ugly job because they have to deal every day 12 straight hours with people that treat them bad and stuff, also they don’t eat in theyre work places they have to eat when they get back home at night…

This is a great idea for helping others because you can chat with them, also we had a blast of fun, they weren´t so serious they were laughing and making jokes, and possing for the pictures we take, they are nice people with problems as we have too, they work 12 hours non stop and they don’t eat so we decide to take a time to spend with them, and talk about anything they want to talk about of.

this has teached us to treat them better, is a small star but something big has a little start we are going to do this every Saturday because it was fun I never though it can be fun labor social and also that makes you happy because you gave some of your time to them…

Cognitive Surplus

Write a personal reflection about the Cognitive Surplus video in your blog. Here are some guiding questions: What are your personal reflections about this video? Has it challenged you to think about your activities and how you spend your free time? Are you primarily a consumer or do you produce and share as much or more than you consume? Does it help you appreciate the social action you are doing for this class?
Here is a little quote to inspire you:"We have no right to consume happiness without producing it than we do to consume wealth without producing it." - George Bernard Shaw
My reflection is that we do nothing beside what all the world offers us,we never use our time appropiately, we preffer to waste it but no using that time to give something back to society... we never take a moment and think about all the info and things that the world offers us but we do nothing, we preffer to waste the time because it is easier to just receive but the difficult part is to use all that info to create or give oppinions about society.
the social action we are doing is gonna help and change the way we act in the world, we are going to use 24 hours helping and doing something good.. we change our receiver condition and change it into an individual that uses time to make this world a better world.

DIET FOR AMERICA

Watch all 8 videos in the Diet for a New America series (the U.N. Livestock video is optional), and carefully read the text in Unit 6 in our textbook on pages 31 - 32. Our topic this week is investigation of the truth, so why have I asked you to watch videos about diet in order to begin to explore this topic?

Because the chapter talks about finding the truth, this means to know really well what´s going on around us… in the chapters we saw, we learned about situations not so pleasant about some things for example food, farming, etc.
After we saw the documentary I felt guilty for being a part in that huge damaging for the environment, it also shows that a lot of times we don’t want to know the cruel or crude truth because we don’t care or because we know part of it and it isn´t nice…; truth is the base of everything, and as individuals searching for opportunities to make changes is our dutty to inform everybody about the truth because we are a fundamental part in that processes that are killing species and also that are destroying completely the environment around us.

What relationships can you find between the videos and the reading?
The relation I found is that in the videos are showing the truth about health or what we believe is health for us, the chains of destruction that we are part of where we support it directly and indirectly because we consume those products that are damaging the ecosystem.
Truth should be another of our goals in life, we should be extremely mature to reach and analyze it, and accept the fact that we have being the persons that initiate those harmful processes.

What do these relationships imply about our role as individuals in our society?
It implies us because we are the ones that cause that great damaging, we are the ones that never got involved in those kind of issues that are affecting us, and the world we live in, it is important to be conscious about we did and try to change not completely but progressively our way of living, eating, acting, and that we should learn to have a little of green mind.
